Photograph the copy you are selling

Show your own copy
Use photos of the book in front of you. A catalogue cover helps identify a title, but it cannot show wear, writing or the condition of the copy a buyer will receive.
Photograph the front and back covers, the spine and the edges of the pages. Add a close-up of any damage or markings. Keep the book in focus and use enough light for the details to be visible.
Describe what the photos show
Mention creases, loose pages, missing dust jackets, writing and highlighting. If a name is written inside, describe that without publishing someone’s personal details in a photo. Choose a condition that matches the whole copy rather than just its cover.
Books with writing or highlighting need a description of the markings. Describe their extent: a few pencil notes on one page is different from highlighting throughout the book.
Make the main photo useful
Choose a clear front-cover photo as the main image. Keep other photos with the listing so a reader can inspect the copy before buying. BookBramble requires at least one actual copy photo to publish.
