Cookie policy

Effective date: 21 October 2026

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how UNIBOOKTRADE LTD ("BookBramble", "we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website at https://bookbramble.co.uk (the "Website"). It explains what these technologies are, why we use them, and your rights to control our use of them.

This policy should be read alongside our Privacy policy, which sets out how and why we collect, store, use, and share personal information generally, as well as your rights in relation to your personal information.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to the owners of the site.

Cookies set by the website operator are called "first-party cookies". Cookies set by parties other than the website operator are called "third-party cookies". Third-party cookies enable features or functionality to be provided on or through the website (e.g. analytics, interactive content, and advertising).

3. Cookies we use

3.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the Website to function properly. They enable core functionality such as security, authentication, and accessibility. You cannot opt out of these cookies as the Website cannot function without them.

3.2 Analytics and link credit

Our visitor analytics doesn’t use cookies. We run Umami, a cookieless analytics tool, on our own server: it counts pages visited, where visits came from and actions such as searching or adding a book to the basket, so we can see what works and what doesn’t. To group one visit’s pages, the Website keeps a random identifier in your browser’s session storage, which is cleared when you close the tab. The Privacy policy says what analytics records. The cookies below credit a shared link.

CookiePurposeDuration
Creator link creditWhen you first arrive through a creator’s link (with a ref code), remembers that code so we can count the sellers that creator brought90 days
Shop and list link creditWhen you first arrive through a reader’s shared shop or list link, remembers which shop or list shared it so we can count orders that link led to. No reward or price depends on it30 days

3.3 Functional cookies

These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalisation, such as remembering your preferences and settings. They may be set by us or by third-party providers whose services we have added to our pages.

CookiePurposeDuration

4. Third-party cookies

Some cookies are placed by third-party services that appear on our pages. We use the following third-party services:

  • Stripe - Our payment processor uses cookies to enable secure payment processing, fraud detection, and to remember your payment preferences. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Sentry - We use Sentry for error tracking and performance monitoring to improve the reliability of our service. See Sentry's Privacy Policy.

4.1 Videos readers add

Sellers and list curators can add a TikTok video or a YouTube Short to a copy, their shop or a list. Until you tap to play one, the page shows only our own photo and the video’s title and creator, and nothing is loaded from TikTok or YouTube, so neither can set cookies or learn that you visited. When you tap, the player loads from TikTok (www.tiktok.com) or from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain (www.youtube-nocookie.com), and that provider may then set its own cookies and record that you watched, under its own policy. See TikTok's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy. Each video plays only after its own tap; we don't remember the choice.

5. Local storage and similar technologies

In addition to cookies, we also use local storage (a feature of your web browser) to store preferences and improve your experience. Local storage works similarly to cookies but can store larger amounts of data and remains until you clear it.

We use local storage to remember your theme preference (light or dark mode), recently viewed items, and other interface preferences.

6. How to manage cookies

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings preferences. You can usually find these settings in the "Options" or "Preferences" menu of your browser. The following links may be helpful:

Please note that disabling or blocking certain cookies may affect the functionality of our Website. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled as they are essential for the Website to function.

7. "Do Not Track" signals

Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals to websites that you do not want to be tracked. We currently do not respond to DNT signals. However, you can manage your cookie preferences as described above.

8. Changes to this cookie policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Cookie Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top.

We encourage you to periodically review this page for the latest information on our cookie practices.
